Mommy, I Can't Hug You.

My reserved, but outspoken 4 year old told me, "Mommy, I can't hug you like I use to because your tummy so big". I had her to repeat what she said, and she said the same words, in the same way, in the same voice, and definitely had a little attitude while saying it. I must admit, my feelings were crushed and hurt, and I responded by telling her, "to watch her mouth, that was rude and disrespectful".

After hearing those words, it rang in my mind constantly. I began to look at myself differently in the mirror. Yes, my daughter was right. I have gained weight and no longer can I use the excuse, "I just had a baby". Heck, my son is 23 months old and there is no way to blame it on "baby weight" anymore. In my mind, sweets and eating after 7 o'clock in the evening has caught up to me. Nevertheless, I haven't subjected myself to diabetes and high blood pressure, but I do tip the scale of being obese!

Adding more fuel to my 4 year old brainwashing statement. Here comes my beautiful, educated, and sophisticate mother, "Merrika, when the children are sleeping, go and workout. You know you're going to need energy to keep up with them two". I responded and said, "Yes, ma'am.

We as mothers, put so much time into ensuring our children are well taken care of that we neglect ourselves. I had to make the decision to be healthy not just for me, but for my children as well. Mothers, we have the ability to change what we want to see differently. For me, I am very grateful to have my children and the purity of God that they possess. I have learned that it doesn't take a lot of money to be healthy and live a healthy lifestyle. We have to do it for our children. Be encouraged! Develop a gym schedule, prep your meals, and STICK TO IT! As my mother stated you'll need the extra boost of energy for your children!
