Mother, Writer, Minister, and Playwright, Candace Washington, better known as Candace Writes was born on August 5, 1988 in Selma, Alabama. As a child, Candace moved around frequently due to her parents being in the United States Army. She resided in Alabama, New York, and Maryland while her parents were serving. They settled in Maryland in 2000, where they remain today. Candace began writing at the early age of 12 when her English teacher recognized her writing skills and asked if she would join the writer’s club. The club initiated her passion and desire for writing. She then started writing short stories and plays for her church and others in her community.
Candace is a graduate of the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in Towson, Maryland. In 2010, she received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Bowie State University. In 2015, Candace became the founder of Candace Writes, LLC and accepted the call on her life to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Candace also went back to school to further her education at the graduate level at Howard University's School of Social Work.
On April 9,2017 she became a licensed minister under the leadership of Pastor Anthony E. Moore, Senior Pastor, Carolina Missionary Baptist Church in Ft. Washington, MD. A month later she received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Howard University.
Candace has been featured in the Sprinkle of Jesus commercial, the J Anthony Brown Radio Show, the Word Television Network, and has interviewed Gospel Greats such as The Canton Spirituals and Jekalyn Carr. She has a heart for God and His people. Her transparency and love for God's people has gifted her with a heart for this generation and fostering conversations to bridge the gap amongst the young and the seasoned believers. Her favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." She currently resides in Crofton, Maryland with her sons, Bryson and Braxton.
