Mother, Author, Minister, and Mental Health Advocate Candace Washington, better known as Candace Writes, was born in Selma, Alabama. At an early age, Candace developed a passion for writing, and at the age of twelve, her English teacher recognized her writing skills and asked if she would join the writer's club. Candace then started writing short stories and plays for her church and others in her community. In addition to writing, Candace also enjoys storytelling through the performing arts as she is a graduate of the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in Towson, Maryland.
In 2010, she received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Bowie State University. In 2015, Candace became the founder of Candace Writes, LLC, and accepted the call on her life to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2017, Candace went back to school to further her education at the graduate level at Howard University's School of Social Work, and on April 9, 2017, she became a licensed minister. A month later, she received her Master's Degree.
Candace's features include the J Anthony Brown Radio Show, the Word Television Network, and several podcasts discussing faith and mental health. Candace has a heart for God and His people. Her transparency has gifted her with a heart for this generation and fosters conversations about mental health, conveying that believers can have both our strong God and a strong therapist. Her favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." She currently resides in Crofton, Maryland, with her sons, Bryson and Braxton.
